TB Joshua’s Emmanuel TV to Discontinue Broadcasting on DStv and GOtv

Emmanuel TV, founded by the late TB Joshua, is set to cease broadcasting on MultiChoice platforms, including DStv and GOtv

The move follows the release of a BBC documentary detailing alleged atrocities associated with the late pastor, sparking controversy and discussions

Emmanuel TV, the renowned Christian television channel established by the late Nigerian televangelist Temitope Babatunde Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, is set to cease broadcasting on MultiChoice platforms DStv

  and GOtv

, effective January 17.

MultiChoice has officially confirmed the removal of Emmanuel TV from both DStv and GOtv, impacting other pay-TV providers, including StarSat. The withdrawal marks a pivotal moment for the widely followed Christian TV station, which can be found on DStv channel 390.

The departure from MultiChoice’s platforms coincides with the release of a three-part documentary by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) under its Africa Eye segment. The documentary delves into the alleged atrocities, including sexual crimes, associated with the late pastor, who passed away on June 5, 2021.

A startling revelation emerged from the documentary, featuring accusations from at least 30 former members and workers of TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). The accusations include abuse, harassment, rape, manipulation, torture, and staged miracles.

Responding to the BBC documentary, the SCOAN, led by the late Joshua, dismissed the claims as baseless. Mr Dare Adejumo, the church’s Public Affairs Director, issued a statement emphasizing that the individuals interviewed in the documentary were unknown to the church. The statement aims to counter the narrative presented in the viral documentary, seeking to clarify the church’s stance.

Emmanuel TV’s decision to exit MultiChoice platforms adds a new chapter to the ongoing saga surrounding TB Joshua’s legacy, prompting a broader discourse on accountability and media representation’s impact in faith-based organizations. As viewers anticipate the channel’s departure, questions linger about the future trajectory of Emmanuel TV and the repercussions for its audience.
