Kudzi Chipanga, 5 others re-admitted into Zanu-PF

THE ruling party Zanu-PF has readmitted former youth leader Kudzi Chipanga and several others as it seems to close ranks ahead of the 2023 elections.

Chipanga, who was expelled immediately after the toppling of former President Mugabe in 2017, has been readmitted back into Zanu-PF on the condition that he does not contest for election in the next three years.

Veteran nationalist and libertarian warfighter Fey Chung has also been readmitted into Zanu-PF but without any condition attached. Chung, a former education minister, left Zanu-PF in 2008 to join the Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn project fronted by Simba Makoni.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Zanu-PF headquarters Wednesday evening, Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo also advised that Makhosini Hlongwane, Chiratidzo Mabuwa and Tapiwa Matangaidze have been readmitted.

These were also expelled after 2017 when Zanu-PF factionalism took a nasty turn.

Meanwhile, James Kaunye has joined Zanu-PF. He was a senior member of the Zimbabwe People First.

Khaya Moyo says the readmitted members have been given various years that they will have to serve as card-carrying members before they can contest for party positions. The probation periods differ on a case by case basis.
