Maureen Nyaboke Arrested after social media uproar.DCI detectives based at Kiamumbi police station in Kahawa West on Wednesday arrested a woman accused of causing a child's death.
Maureen Nyaboke allegedly assaulted her boss' son causing him internal bleeding that resulted in his death, the boy's family claimed.
Her employer identified as Wangui Wambeca raised the matter about the son's death on social media leading to uproar among Kenyans who demanded the house help to be arrested.
She attached the accused identification card and photos online and asked members of the public to help in tracing her whereabouts.
According to Kiamumbi DCIO Caroline Gathoni, they got a tip-off from the members of the public and her new employer, also based at Kahawa West, and arrested the suspect.
She said that they are piecing together information relating to the incident in a bid to establish what exactly transpired.
Gathoni said that the postmortem conducted on Tuesday indicated that the baby had multiple internal injuries.
“We have a postmortem report with us and it has indicated that the child had sustained severe internal bleeding and succumbed to the same on a Saturday. We will investigate and determine what transpired and charge her per the law," she said.
She added that the complainant has already written a statement with the police and she has requested proceeding to continue after the burial of the child which is expected tomorrow.
She said that the accused after being fired by Wangui Wambeca sought a new job still at Kahawa West and was employed as a house help.
“We have arrested the lady whose photo was circulating online after her new employer at Kahawa West Ward reported to us and we are awaiting the family to finalize the burial plans and charge her," she said.
